Having campaigned for this for a long time, including the last two weeks at PMQs I am very pleased that there are finally moves to ban vape sponsorship in sports. Young people, most of whom have never smoked, are being targeted from all angles by vape marketing, and it needs to stop.
I've been pushing hard for this in the Tobacco and Vapes Bill Committee, where I had questioned expert witnesses about this, and tabled an amendment to bring this provision in to the Bill, so I was happy to hear from the UK Government Minister that they have now recognised the need for action on this issue.
I'll keep the pressure up to make sure they deliver, but this is a great breakthrough. I am very pleased.
