Today at 2.50pm, East Renfrewshire fell silent, as we remembered all those lost in the Clarkston Disaster, exactly 50 years ago. I joined residents and community representatives at a Memorial Service to remember them.
This was worst peace-time explosion Scotland had seen, and 22 people died, with over one hundred injured. I laid down an Early Day Motion at Westminster noting the disaster, and the terrible impact on so many families across our community. Our thoughts are with them all today.
