As you can see, calls for the extension of furlough have loomed large. I am pleased that there is to be an extension of furlough, but that must be cold comfort to those who have lost their jobs because there was no such extension planned. There must be consideration given to rectifying that mess. We cannot go on in a situation where calls for furlough extension from the devolved administrations are ignored until Westminster decides a lockdown is required in England.
These are difficult and worrying times for everyone, and the Scottish Government should not being hindered by being unable to deploy furlough and use economic levers to support our communities as needed.
